How to Build an Internet Business, There’s an Interview for That!
November 23, 2009 | Anthony Doctolero | 3 CommentsDo you want to learn how to build a successful Internet business?
If your answer is “no,” then stop here, do not pass go, do not collect $200 (homage to Monopoly, one my favorite boardgames of all time).
If your answer is “yes,” then keep reading because the answer is quite simple, watch or listen to the interviews on Mixergy.com — all of them.
Want to learn how to start an Internet business, how to raise venture capital, how to build community, how to get links to your site, how to get people to pay for services, how to create compelling content?….there’s an interview for that!
Mixergy.com, “home of the ambitious upstart,” provides free video interviews (at least for now) with successful Internet entrepreneurs. The interviews are conducted by Andrew Warner, an accomplished Internet entrepreneur in his own right with his own fascinating roller coaster of a story where he took his company to $30+ million a year in sales.
If you’ve ever had to sign a birthday card for a co-worker by passing around a “manila envelope”, then you know what a silly process it is. Most of the time the recipient knows it’s coming and it’s really just a formality.
This is why you’ll like GroupGreeting.com, a free service that allows you to create a digital group card that multiple people can sign and share from anywhere in the world.
By creating a group greeting card, you can have the whole office, team or group of friends sign a card for an individual without having to pass around a physical card. It’s very much like an ecard, but what makes it different is you can create one card and have everyone in the office sign it (even if they are in different locations). Continue reading »
While everyone is talking about “Love,” I’d like to talk about another “L” word and that’s leadership.
Whether you are a retail manager with 6 sales associates, a coach of a basketball team, or a father with children, leadership plays a big part in our lives. And understanding how to get the best out of your team is crucial for success in many of our endeavors.
One of readers (Rob K. in Oregon) recently sent me a link to a great site that I think you should check out.

The site is a blog that former NBA coach Eric Musselman has penned since 2007 and deals with “Notes, observations, and commentary on basketball and coaching.”
For any of you readers out there who love basketball, you’ll be in for a treat. The site is chock full of leadership insight as well as player/coach stories from around the NBA and college ranks.
Check out Eric Musselman’s Blog.
Musebin is a new site that just launched which plays off the 140 character limit rule which Twitter has made defacto standard.
With Musebin, you now have your chance to review music, but of course you only have 140 characters to say it. For some it is tough to limit themselves to so few characters. For others it’s a delightful art form.

Here are just some of the great reviews on Musebin right now:
on Chinese Democracy by Axl Rose
“It took Michelangelo 4 years to paint the Sistine Chapel. It takes Axel 15 to shit on a CD, and gravity was on his side.”
on 808s and Heartbreak by Kanye West
“Don’t expect any club bangers, this is more like a soundtrack for stalking ex-girlfriends on Facebook.”
on Merriweather Post Pavilion by Animal Collective
“Like the Beach Boys on an acid trip, being spun in a blender. In the absolute best way possible.”

PMSBuddy.com is a free online PMS reminder. Yes, you heard it right fellas, a service which reminds you precisely when your wife or girlfriend’s “aunt flow” is coming for a visit. All you have to do is enter the last date of the woman’s cycle and the site will send you reminders in advance. In addition to the reminders, the service makes suggestions to buy flowers, wine, chocolates and even lingerie (the site has to make money somehow right?). PMSBuddy also has a section for users to share stories and also some PMS tips for you.
In their own words: “PMSBuddy.com is a free service created with a single goal in mind: to keep you aware of when your wife, girlfriend, mother, sister, daughter, or any other women in your life are closing in on “that time of the month” – when things can get intense for what may seem to be no reason at all.”

They also have an interesting little meter on their homepage which shows the number of periods the site is tracking as well as the threat level.
We all may joke about the “crimson tide,” but for some guys this might actually be somewhat useful. Just remember though, your women might not react too kindly about you charting their crimson tide so be careful!
