Ploomy Girl #10 is Suzie Leighton. The 24-year old San Francisco native is always on the move. She’s lived in and visited more places than most people do in a lifetime. At the age of 18, Suzie moved to Europe where she served as an aupair (nanny) for 2 years. After coming back to the United States, Suzie attended college in San Diego where she was business fashion major. She eventually dropped out after finding the job she’d been dreaming about since 3 and that was being a flight attendant. That’s where this flight takes off…hop on the plane with us and see where she takes us.

What’s it like being a flight attendant?
I love being a flight attendant because you’re always on the go. You can’t really have a real life at home because you’re gone a lot. And if you have kids, it must be even harder. When I settle down and have kids I definitely will have to quit. If you are in a relationship, you have to be with a really trusting guy because you are with pilots and hot co-workers all the time! But I love it. I’m never one to stay in one place for too long so it’s the perfect job for me.

As a passenger, we always see flight attendants going to that back area during break periods or when there is no service coming around. What are you guys really doing back there???
When we’re in the back, we gossip ha ha. We usually are talking about the latest news in the crew room and who’s hooking up with who. And of course because you don’t really have long breaks during the day, we take that time to chow down.

As a flight attendant, have you ever caught anyone trying to get into the “mile high club?”
I’ve never caught anyone, but I can’t say that I’m not a member of the mile high club!

You mentioned you were an aupair in Zurich for a couple of years. What was that experience like?
Zurich was amazing and probably the best time in my life so far. I was 18 when I was there till 20. It was perfect because the drinking age is 18 and I just really partied my ass off. The clubs stay open all night. Some other aupairs and I would take the last train out at 12 and take the first train home at 6AM. It was a blast. I got to travel all around Europe to countries like France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Sweden, and Amsterdam. I was lucky enough to have a badass family that let me do whatever I wanted and they even gave me a car! I watched one 2 year old little boy Ramon. He was a doll and such a good kid. Basically I just taught him English and did a lot of cooking and cleaning for the family. I learned so much about how to cook, how to speak German and it was really just the best experience for any 18 year old. I would still be there if I could because I’m so in love with Europe, but they kicked me out of the country because my visa expired.

What was it like being a representative for Red Bull?
I have met so many connections through the party launches, club openings, and motocross and skatepark events. Red Bull is an amazing company and they treat their employees so well.

We know you’re originally from Cali, but what was it like living in Houston?
Houston is umm let’s say different. It’s very country there. I have a house north of Houston in the woodlands so people talk about going fishing and hunting all the time and I didn’t grow up with any of that. I am such a city and beach girl so it was different for me. I mean their fun is going four wheeling, but it’s grown on me a lot. I really love the southern hospitality in Houston…it’s so nice.

Why did you move to the Big Apple?

I just felt like I needed a change and it’s not gonna be forever. I was in Texas for 3 years and I just had an itch to move. I don’t stay in one place for too long because there is just too much to see and do out there. I haven’t lived in half the places I want to yet. I would love to move to Mexico or Spain to learn Spanish. Maybe live there for a year or two to learn the language and maybe meet a hottie in the process. :)

I see you’re reading the Stephenie Meyer books? Why do you think so many women are into the Twilight series?
Because they are so addicting. I started the first one and couldn’t put it down–it only took me 3 days to read it and I hate reading. They almost seem like they could be real.

Is there anything guys can learn from Jacob and Edward in terms of winning the hearts of Bellas across the world?
Guys can learn a lot from these two. I suggest they read the book! Edward is just a heartthrob and anything he says or does pulls you into him. Jacob is a sweet guy and I’ve learned that when you get older you really do kinda want a sweet guy like that sometimes.

What’s your dream job?
Hmm my dream job. I have a few but the one that I would love to do is be a charter flight attendant for the San Diego Chargers or Padres. I think it would be so much fun because I love football and baseball.

What does a guy have to do to catch your attention?
Chase me. I love a man that will work for what he wants.

I’d imagine you’re not really into home body type guys. What do you look for in a man?
I like a guy who is charming and one who will make the effort to get to know my family because that is the most important thing to me. I like a guy who will do anything at the drop of a hat like say, “Let’s take off to Europe for a few days or let’s go sky diving.”

Do you have any special hidden talents that most people don’t know about?
Well a lot of people don’t know that I am fluent in American sign language. I am also a really good golfer. Believe it or not, I was captain of my golf team in high school. No one really thinks that because I am so girly, but I can whoop some ass on the golf course.

What’s a typical Friday night like for you?
Let’s see having a few girlfriends over, jammin out to music, having a few cocktails and getting sexy’d up. Then we’d hit up one of our fav Mexican restaurants and then go to a few local bars till closing. By that time I’m feeling pretty good and decide to carry the after party to my house and invite the whole bar over! :) I just love having a good time and making breakfast for everyone in the morning.

We see that your hometown of Canfield, Ohio had a population of less than 8,000 (as of the 2000 census) and in 2005 was voted the 82nd Best Place to Live in the United States. What was it like growing up there?
Brittany: Canfield is a small town which makes me a small town girl, and because it is such a small town you really meet some great people and maintain everlasting friendships. I really enjoyed growing up in Canfield (minus the drama of a small town). People are very close to one another and always kind and helpful if you’re in need.

What made you decide to move to the Big Apple? How does it compare to Ohio?
Brittany: My dream has always been to live in a big city whether it was Manhattan, Chicago, or LA. I chose to follow my heart to the Big Apple. Even though I grew up in a small town, my heart was in the city. Every time I would visit Manhattan for a fabulous girls weekend (which consisted of non-stop shopping), it just felt right. I felt like I just belonged there. So I worked very hard in school and followed my heart to the city. Ohio and Manhattan are nothing alike, but I do feel without the encouragement from my loving parents and friends who believed in me I would not be where I am today.

You’re currently a student at the Fashion Institute of Technology. What made you want to get into fashion?
Brittany: Let me just start out by saying the Fashion Institute of Technology is amazing! I would not want to be anywhere else. I was always a very fashionable kid—my mother would dress me as if I was walking the red carpet everyday. As I grew up I continued to dress to impress and had a strong desire to learn more about fashion and the industry. For all you fashion forward teens out there, if you’re interested in a career in fashion, FIT is where it’s at.

What’s your favorite neighborhood to hang out in New York?
Brittany: My favorite part of New York would have to be East Village because the bars are cute and unique and the people are down to earth and fun loving!

We can tell that you really like to have a good time and party. What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done on a night out on the town?
Brittany: Work hard and party harder! I’m a full-time and dedicated student, but I always make time to go out with my friends. Life is too short! Even if the bar/party is beat, we always seem to make it fun. I haven’t done anything too shameful, maybe make out with my friends on occasion, but hey it’s all in good fun :)

NYC is an expensive place to live in. Do you have a part-time job while you’re going to school?
Brittany: NYC is insanely expensive! Job??? What’s that? Daddy pays for me to live it up :) Just kidding! My parents are wonderful and I appreciate everything they have done for me. I am a full-time student and work very hard for the grades I receive. School is my full-time job right now!

What would your dream job be after you graduate?
Brittany: My dream job would be to work at a top notch Public Relations Agency.

What do you think is the single biggest thing guys can do to improve their fashion sense without being a douche?
Brittany: I of course love my guys to be fashionable, but the key would be to stay manicured, keep yourself maintained and just take pride in yourself.

Outside of school, and all the partying, what else do you like to do for fun?
Brittany: I like to shop, workout and sing. I also use to be a gymnast, and sometimes I catch myself still flipping around the house.

What’s your favorite sport to play? Favorite sport to watch?
Brittany: I’d have to say my favorite sport to do would be gymnastics. I would have to say my favorite sport to watch would be basketball, I get really into the game!

How many years were you a gymnast? What was your specialty?
Brittany: I was a gymnast for 16 years of my life. I lived and breathed gymnastics. I wanted to go to college and continue my love for the sport, but with all the hard training it became too hard on my body. The ligaments in the right side of my ankle gave out and completely disintegrated. If I wanted to go back, I would have had to get reconstruction surgery. My specialty was definitely the floor exercise. I was always a good dancer which is an important part of the floor exercise. I guess you can say I knew how to strut my stuff :) I was always putting on a show. I also had a lot of power and was never afraid to try new and advanced things.

What is a talent you have that not many people know about?
Brittany: That I can sing. I use to do a lot with my voice when I was younger but I stopped which I know my grandparents aren’t happy about! I love to sing though but I mostly just sing in the car now days :(

What makes a guy hot?
Brittany: The perfect guy to me is tall, athletic, dark hair, pearly white teeth and looks to kill :)

What’s your idea of a great first date?
Brittany: A great first date would be some flowers a fabulous dinner and a horse and buggy ride in Central Park.

You say on your Facebook that you are a good lover. How do we know that you’re not just making this stuff up?
Brittany: Hey, that’s just what I have heard. No one has ever complained?

What do you think men need to know?
Brittany: To all you men out there just be yourself, and also be nice to girls. Girls don’t like mean guys!

What are you doing this Friday night?
Brittany: This Friday night I am going to a pool party at a friend’s house.

Want more Brittany?

Felicia, Ploomy Girl #7 is San Francisco’s premier pancake queen. She basically grew up in the restaurant her family started (Mama’s). At this point in her life, the 27-year old has done everything from wait tables to flip pancakes. And for the record, she prefers flipping pancakes. She can hold her own in Mama’s kitchen, which means she’s speedy with a spatula and can swear coherently in English and Spanish. You don’t see too many female line cooks out there, so we love the fact that she’s mixing things up. She starts her days early, hopefully getting all the baking for the restaurant done by the time they open at 8am, then, a couple of days a week she cooks in the line. Between that and pastry school, she spends most of her time in an apron, covered head-to-toe in flour (it gets messy). We recently caught up with her at the restaurant to see what was cooking. We fed her a few lines to get her to take off the apron…but yeah she wasn’t having it.

Tell us a little about Mama’s.

Felicia: My grandparents started Mama’s in 1951, and we’ve been on the same corner in North Beach for that long! It’s this tiny little place, definitely nothing fancy, but we have a line out the door every day of the week. We serve breakfast and lunch, but we’re best known for our breakfast, and our menu is huge…full of all the breakfast favorites, but done really well.

What’s your favorite thing on the menu?

We have 8 different kinds of French toast, all made with breads that I bake every morning, and served with homemade jam. Plus a million different kinds of omelettes and a pancake recipe that has been handed down like some families hand down heirloom jewelry. My favorite thing on the menu is probably the Monte Cristo though. It’s a sandwich made with turkey, ham and two kinds of cheese and then it’s dipped in egg and grilled like French toast. I know it sounds sort of weird, but it’s absolutely delicious. I swear, people die over it!

How is it like working with family?

Felicia: It’s an experience and it’s definitely not for everybody. My dad is a baker, my mom deals with a lot of the business end of things, and my brother, well my brother is 22 so we’re not so sure what his specific calling is yet. But we are all constantly in each other’s faces. We work in the same space up to 6 days a week and when we’re not actually working, we’re sitting around a dinner table – at Thanksgiving for example, talking about work! I would say the best part is that it keeps us close, even if we’re fighting about something, we’re at least talking to each other! And the worst part is that my mom is my boss, so every request feels like I’m 14 and she’s telling me to clean my room.

Do you ever have any unruly customers at the restaurant?

Felicia: Yes. Waiting in line for breakfast for over an hour often makes people unruly. It’s amazing how worked up people can get over how crispy their bacon is or how many blueberries are in their pancakes. The trick is to not let people walk all over you, but not to send them home to yelp.com to rant about how horrible that girl in the apron was. That old “customer is always right” thing is about 80% true. I will smile and nod and accommodate someone as long as things stay within reason, but I won’t let anyone be an asshole. After all, I’m the boss…and I know how to use a knife.

Any weird restaurant stories?

Felicia: So many weird stories! Anyone who works in a restaurant has fantastic stories. I’m sorry to tell you that we all stand around in the kitchen and talk about the weird things you do when you’re a customer. I once served a table full of guys who worked the door at a local strip club. Every time I brought them another round of mimosas they threw dollar bills on my tray, until I politely (or maybe not so politely) reminded them that they weren’t actually in the strip club anymore. North Beach is especially interesting I think, because it’s a neighborhood full of characters. There’s the lady who comes in every Wednesday in her sports bra and booty shorts and orders pancakes and a nonfat, double shot, decaf latte extra hot with no foam…and THEN without fail, sends it back because it is too hot, not hot enough, too strong, too milky, or too brown. We actually had to ban her from ordering espresso drinks because it got so ridiculous. There’s the fedora wearing director, whose horrible little purse dog has special “mental health” tags so it can come into restaurants. The miserable little thing eats off the plates and licks the table so when they leave, everything has to be tossed out and sanitized. I’m not complaining though. I love weird. Weird gets me through the day!

We know you used to have a pretty cool office job at Dreamworks. What made you trade in the cubicle for the kitchen?

Felicia: Because I once had a meeting where my manager told me that she felt like I wasn’t “engaging in my spreadsheets.” I hate cubicles and I hate spreadsheets. I don’t really think I belong in an office environment. It was a good experience and I met amazing creative and talented people. If you wait a really long time you will even see my name in the credits for Shrek 2 and Shrek the Third (My mom was super excited about that). But I don’t like office politics and meetings and yearly reviews. In the restaurant, we’re casual and we’re honest. If you have a problem with somebody you lay it out, maybe you yell a little and you get it over with. There’s no human resources department. Plus everyday presents something new. I’m not coming in and staring at a computer screen for 8 hours with my butt glued to a swivel chair. It’s always crazy. Like one day I’ll come in and the oven is on fire, or the bottom floor is flooded. Maybe its not always good crazy, but it’s always different.

How are the teachers at culinary school? Are any of them assholes like on the TV shows?

Felicia: Well, it’s not like Hell’s Kitchen. Nobody is red-faced and screaming at me…and I’ve never cried! The chef who teaches the pastry course is actually very nice and she does really funny impressions of Julia Child. I think sometimes chefs get the reputation for being tough because they’re incredibly diligent and strict about the way they run their kitchens. But there are reasons for that, kitchens are scary places. There are knives and fire and men in clogs! Within the chaos, there has to be some order so that people don’t get hurt.

What’s your favorite dessert to make?

Felicia: I make a mean cream puff! I’m constantly learning something new and complicated and interesting in school, so I feel like I have a new favorite every week. Baking is a whole different thing from cooking, it’s incredibly precise. You can make one little mistake and have to toss the whole thing in the garbage and start over again. But, at the same time, baking can feel like culinary magic. You use the same basic ingredients: eggs, sugar, flour to make anything from a souffle to a wedding cake. Actually, yes, souffles are a favorite, they’re spectacular because they puff up like magic and then melt in your mouth. Also, for whatever reason, people always find them impressive.

Do you ever bring the things you bake back to your friends?

Felicia: My guy friends love me right now. The ones lucky enough to live on the way home from school to my apartment are constantly getting deliveries. Cheesecakes, cupcakes, cream puffs: I think they’re all going to get fat, but they’re definitely not complaining. Everybody loves dessert so you’re a popular person when you’re in pastry school. It also works out better for me because otherwise all that stuff would be in MY fridge and I eat plenty of it already.

I see you have a blog. Tell us about it.

Felicia: It’s so all over the place! I mean, basically it’s about me, which means that you would have to find me terribly interesting to want to read it with any regularity. I started it more as an online journal type of thing, to force myself to write, and then friends started to read it and they were allegedly entertained. I suppose, like any blog, it’s my own little soapbox for spewing opinions and also for telling stories. I tell restaurant stories, Saturday night stories….dating stories. The dating stories are usually a big hit – don’t worry though, I always use nicknames, so even when I’m talking shit, I’m doing it anonymously! It’s funny how quickly things spread though…somebody sends a link to someone else and the next thing you know you’re at your best friend’s engagement party and the father of her future husband is saying, “Felicia, I love your blog, it’s great!” True story!

What are your favorite things to do in the city?

Felicia: I am absolutely in love with San Francisco, I always have been. This city has such a great culture and is, of course, an amazing city for food. Can you tell that food is kind of a theme? That’s what happens when you grow up in a restaurant family. I am definitely not the girl who orders a salad. I spend a lot of evenings checking out new restaurants or searching out some little hole in the wall I heard about from somebody else. Other than that I get cocktails with my girlfriends; I spend sunny days at Dolores Park; I wander around bookstores… and shoe stores. Two of my great passions in life: old books (I love the smell) and beautiful shoes.

What do you look for in guys?

Felicia: I generally look for a guy who is a mild slob with good taste in books and restaurants. Please don’t take me to the Cheesecake Factory and please don’t say the last thing you read was Maxim. Does that sound snotty? It’s not meant to be. I just mean that in a city like San Francisco, I’d rather go get a really delicious burrito in the Mission than sit at the top of Macy’s with a 25 page laminated menu. I also find that I gravitate towards guys who are involved in something creative, and like me, are not cubicle people. I rarely date investment bankers. Last, but not least, I have a reaaaally dry sense of humor. I’m sarcastic and I talk a lot of shit so I usually don’t last long with sensitive souls! I laugh at others, I laugh at myself … I need that in another person.

Whats one of the worst dates you’ve been on?

Felicia: Please see “dating, etc” on my blog. Really, I’ve been on some pretty bad dates. I think I bring it on myself though, because I secretly sort of like first dates…I like the challenge of getting to know someone new, oh and I like to flirt. First dates are usually good for that. If you can keep up a pretty consistent chat over a glass of wine, then it’s not all that bad. The worst dates are the ones where there is just straight up silence for days and you’re both searching frantically for some topic of convo! I was on a date once where the conversation became so strained that the guy started talking about his dog, which he had recently dressed up like an iguana for Halloween (not cute). The most exciting thing that happened all night was that in the middle of it, we had a small earthquake. And I said, “Oh my god, I think we just had an earthquake, did you feel that?” And he said, “No.” I’d have to say I go on a lot of first dates and very few second dates.

What do you think men need to know?

Felicia: Once I was at a bar (probably on a Friday night) and a guy had the bartender send me a shot of water and then he came over to talk to me like, “Hey, I’m the guy who sent you the water.” And I thought, why does it always have to be a gimmick or a line? Stuff like that gets so old. Imagine how many silly introductions the average girl experiences in one weekend and you’ll understand the appeal of a genuine, “hey, how’s it going?”

What are you doing this Friday night?

Felicia: I hate Friday nights!! Probably because my “weekend” is typically Sunday and Monday. So on Friday nights, everyone else is raring to go and I still have to get up and bake bread at 5am on Saturday morning. But in general I’d say that I prefer going out on non-weekend nights, the energy is a little different and places aren’t as crowded. I love Thursday nights actually, that’s when our little crew from Mama’s usually heads out together for cocktails and good music. We dance; we tell our fantastic restaurant stories; we make friends with the bartender.

Ploomy Girl #6 ClaraBelle is talented. No wait, let me rephrase that. Ploomy Girl #6 ClaraBelle is “bloody” talented. She’s our first international Ploomy Girl (lives in London) and we’re excited to have her on the site.

Raised in Osaka, Japan by a Scottish mother and a Japanese father, 25-year old Clara had a very unique upbringing. Her mother, dedicated to a world peace movement, named her for the “clarity” she would bring into the world (no pressure). After settling in Scotland for the latter part of her schooling, she then went on to study music in London where she now resides. And when you listen to her music, you realize she’s developed her own unique East meets West aesthetic. That’s probably because her grandparents surrounded Clara with the traditional island sounds and culture of their native Okinawa while her jazz-loving father and mother brought her up on a steady diet of The Carpenters, Carole King, Celtic music, and that little group The Beatles.

Although she’s been so busy in the studio recording her first album, we caught up with her so she could school us on what it’s like juggling a budding music career and being a music teacher.

I see you have an interesting childhood of living in Japan and then London. How do you think it affected what kind of person you are?
Clara: Actually, I was born in Japan but then I moved to Scotland, where my mum is from. I only moved down to London to go to university and I’ve just ended up staying here. But yeah, to answer your question, I think having a multicultural upbringing has enabled me to become a very flexible and adaptable person. Just plonk me anywhere and I’ll be fine!

Was it weird having a Scottish mum in Japan? Was she expected to be like a Japanese person?
Clara: Yes, it was very weird. At the time, there weren’t very many foreigners in Osaka so we got stared at a lot wherever we went. I always felt so self-conscious and I remember hating it. It was really easy to spot my mum in the supermarkets though because the shelves are really low and you only had to look for a blond head bobbing up and down. I don’t know if you’ve ever seen a Japanese Obento? It’s like a packed lunch box, but it’s so artistic and beautiful. I guess one of the annoying things was while all my classmates had lovely flower shaped carrots and cute little bunny shaped apples all wrapped up in beautiful clothes, I just got bread in a bag! It was so shameful to bring it out! Ah, bless my mum, she tried so hard to fit in. Hey, it made me stronger!

What was it like as a young child moving to a completely different country with a different language?
Clara: Now I can say that it was the best thing ever, but looking back I remember being so stressed and grumpy. To begin with, I moved over by myself without my family and I stayed with my auntie. I didn’t go to an international school. Instead I went to a really rough state school in Glasgow (oh my god!). A lot of people say that the American gangsters are nothing compared to rough Glaswegians! Haha…so true! It was so hard learning the language, and I used to make a lot of embarrassing mistakes. Ok one example… One boy thought it would be sooo funny to kindly let me know that a “whore” was a person from abroad… So I was thinking great! I can be all sophisticated and use the grown-up language. So for a day or two (until I caught on) I was going around the whole school introducing myself to people (including teachers) as “Hi (big smile), I’m Clara and I’m a whore.” Can you believe this!!!??? So cruel!

Do you go back to Japan often?
Clara: Unfortunately I don’t go back to Japan very much simply because I can’t afford to. But I love Japan and would like to go back more often to see my family and especially my grandmother who is getting really old. It’s a bit frustrating actually.

What are some of your favorite things to do in London?
Clara: Find the best coffee shops and go regularly. I love hanging out in Covent Garden in the mornings when it’s not crowded. Hampstead Heath is so nice too although I swear there are always some couples having sex in the bushes! Also I like North London, Crouch End and Muswell Hill. I love drinking cocktails on the south bank too on a really hot, sunny evening.

What’s life like as an aspiring independent musician that has to make a living in the UK?
Clara: Life is a big juggle for me. I’m in a bit of a catch 22 situation as I really want to have all the time in the world to be creative and make music. But as you know London is a very expensive place to survive in, so I am also a teacher. The struggle is to get the right balance and not let teaching take over my life. But I’m sure all artists are in the same position.

Do you ever play with other musicians? How is this a different experience than being on your own?
Clara: I do! I actually enjoy it so much because I really like being in a team and working with other people. It’s very rewarding that way. I have some lovely guys in my band whom I respect massively and who are such nice people. We have such a laugh.

What’s it like being on YouTube and having thousands of views? Do you like having such a fan base?
Clara: Really exciting but it’s soooo weird. One day I decided to do something really simple and unimpressive just for the sake of learning how to use my new webcam and then people liked it! I really didn’t expect anyone to even watch it to be honest. But yes I’ve been getting sooooooo many lovely comments and messages, and I was crying every 2 seconds reading them! I’m still a bit emotional about the whole thing.

Why do you think people are so into your videos?
Clara: Maybe because I’m not really trying hard to be impressive? So I come across like every normal human being and perhaps people relate to me? Maybe because I was comfortable and relaxed, they picked up the vibes?

What do you think about the comments on YouTube that say “marry me” or people expressing their love for you? Are you planning on marrying any of your adoring fans?
Clara: Yes, they should all become my bitches–a nice happy ending for all!

What was the inspiration for the song “Run”?
Clara: I wrote ‘Run’ a few weeks ago on my roof one day when it was really hot. There is a small river (not a pretty one) running beside where I live and I saw a really big, overweight guy running. I don’t mean to come across like a stalker or a spy, but he has been trying to shed the pounds for a while so I often see him around. I thought in the beginning it’ll only last for 3 days, but he hasn’t given up and he has lost a lot of weight already. He is still really big, but I was just watching him from above (it’s quite a tall building) and started singing the song. It just came out, wasn’t really thinking about it (this doesn’t always happen by the way). He was so desperate, totally covered in sweat but really hopeful and motivated. I thought no matter what problems we have, it’s that ‘urge’ to change that keeps us all going. He was so inspiring and I just wanted to hug him–once he’s had a shower of course haha :). He has a goal and he’s gonna get there and I (really wanted to) relate to it. Anyway, that’s the story behind the song…

Who’s a professional musician that you respect?
Clara: Eva Cassidy, KT Tunstall. Very talented and they come over as real, honest people.

How would you compare the music scene in London, Japan and the U.S. respectively?
Clara: I think in the US, people are much more open. You guys seem to embrace all kinds of music. But in UK, people like more edgy and quirky “I’m too cool to wash” types…don’t tell them I said that! Oh and don’t get me started on Japanese pop! Oh my lord!

Do you ever sing at karaoke bars? What kind of reception do you get?
Clara: Never! I do sometimes when I’m in Japan, but I don’t really come across karaoke places in London. I’m sure there are plenty but the only ones I see are in dodgy backstreet pubs with signs falling off the front wall. I would fear for my life!

***

What’s something about yourself that most people don’t know?
Clara: That I look like an alien in the mornings. Also I really don’t find The Simpsons and The Family Guy funny. I sobbed like a baby watching Britain’s Got Talent.

Is there any place that you really want to travel to?
Clara: The moon.

If you could have any superpower, what would you have and how would you use it?
Clara: I would like to be a witch! I dressed up as a witch everyday (no joke) when I was a little girl. I don’t want to be an evil one; I mean the nice, herbal ones who make medicine and stuff. All my other friends wanted to be brides or princesses, and they were never too impressed when I insisted on being a witch at their weddings.

You’re so beautiful! What do you think is your best attribute?
Clara: Oh I don’t know… I’d like to say my heart (lol) but we all know that’s a load of rubbish so… Hmm, well the thing is that you don’t know how awful I look in the mornings!

What’s something guys do that totally turns you off?
Clara: Guys who are constantly trying to impress I find very boring. I also find guys who are good at everything really annoying too.

What do you usually like to see in guys?
Clara: I really like guys who are firm but fair, guys who don’t let me walk all over them. They have to be funny, kind and understanding.

So many American men love women who have British accents, but what do you think of guys with American accents?
Clara: Erm….no comment. No, only joking! I think Americans in general are very open and nice. You do realize I have to say that now because you guys seem to like my music! haha:0

What do you think men “need to know”?
Clara: Just know and accept that women are a nightmare.

What are you doing this Friday night?
Clara: I have a ukulele lesson, then I am going to go and watch stand-up comedy in South London with my friends and probably have a bit of a giggle afterwards. But I can’t drink too much because I direct a close harmony choir every Saturday morning. I have to be totally with it for that! What are you doing this Friday night? Anything nice?
