Whether you’re looking for a new apartment to rent or home to buy, you know that location, location, location is key. During my move, I found some helpful websites that made my new apartment search and decision making process a little easier.

Rentometer
Are you paying too much for rent? Let Rentometer tell you if the rent you’ll be paying is high, fair, or below market rates. Find out how your rental compares to other local properties in the area. This might also be a great negotiation tool to have in your back pocket when you negotiate the final terms of your lease.

PadMapper
Sure you already know about Craigslist and how it can give you access to lots of vacancies in your desired neighborhood, but wouldn’t it be nice if you could see the listings visually on a map? This is what PadMapper has done. Enter a city, address or zip code and they serve up listings in that area. The listings show up as pin points on the map complete with additional information and photos. This tool is really helpful if you want to see what else is available in a particular area.

ZipSkinny
Okay, say you think you found a really great apartment to take a look at this weekend. Grab the zip code and enter it into ZipSkinny. What you’ll get back is lots of interesting statistical data about the area. ZipSkinny provides information about what schools are in the area, how much money people make, average education of it’s residents, demographic makeup, etc. Get the skinny on the zip code before making your final decision.

WalkScore
Every neighborhood is different and offers varying conveniences (restaurants, grocery stores, public transportation, bars, coffee shops, movie theaters, etc.) that make living there that much better. What WalkScore does is tell you how walkable your new residence will be by giving you a score. To really get a good idea of a neighborhood, you must walk it and WalkScore does the work for you.

21Men is having a pretty damn good spring sale right now.

I saw an average-sized guy in his mid 20’s who was obviously trying to build up some muscle. He looked like he had some padding (weight) on him, but he didn’t look too out of shape. The thing that caught my eye is what I saw him doing.

He was using the cables to do cable crossover flyes. I watched as his arms wildly flapped up and down in an uneven way. His upper body lurched forward and downward with each rep as he strained to move the weight at all costs. I watched him move on to other exercises and perform them with a similar style.

Who knows, maybe he really didn’t know how to lift weights. But then again, like a lot of other people out there, maybe he was just too embarrassed to lift the proper amount of weight for his strength level.

If his goal was to avoid looking silly in the gym, he certainly didn’t achieve it. Honestly, I thought he looked a lot more like a monkey trying to figure out how to fly than someone who’s serious about getting in shape.

Was I impressed by the big weights he was lifting?

Nope.

The Little Guy with Good Form

Perhaps I’m being a little too harsh on the poor guy, but I’m just trying to underscore the importance of staying within your limits as you exercise. Pushing your limits is always a good thing, but not at the expense of doing your exercises correctly.

I’d like to contrast this with a smaller guy I’ve seen in the gym lately. He’s a really short little guy who’s built about like your average pencil. I watched as he took a light dumbbell in each hand, laid on a bench, and slowly did a set of dumbbell bench presses.

With each repetition, he lowered the weight all the way down and pressed it back up. He lifted with good form and complete control, and I watched him continue pressing until he struggled to get his last rep. Most importantly, he chose a weight that was right for his strength level.

The fact that he was struggling to lift very light weights didn’t matter. I remember being in that position; I know what it’s like when you first start. I had respect for the fact that he was doing what was best for his strength level.

Just Do What’s Best for You

Unfortunately, it’s far too common to see people trying to lift more weight than they can handle. The funny thing is, trying to lift too much weight is exactly what is keeping them weak. In order to compensate for the heavy weights, it becomes necessary to use awkward body movements to move the weight, and this takes the stress away from the muscles that should be doing the work.

Think back to the monkey guy. Is it worth looking like that just so that you can lift more weight? Are you really afraid of people laughing at you because you are too weak?
Nobody will laugh at you if you stay within your limits.

Here’s why: many of the people in the gym were also overweight or weak at one time in their lives. They know what you are going through. They can remember their first time in the gym. They probably think to themselves, “I remember when that weight was hard for me too.” Even more likely, they’re not paying any attention in the first place.

If you are a beginner, use nice slow movements so that you can keep your exercises under control. You will be able to move to faster and use more explosive movements as you build strength and as your stabilizer muscles improve.

So forget about how you look and go to work. If you use good form in all of your exercises and stay within your limits, you won’t look stupid. People will respect the effort that you are making to improve. With time, you will become much stronger.

First, one of the essential decisions when it comes to a bachelor party is choosing a Las Vegas hotel at which to stay. Some of you might be thinking, that’s easy – the cheapest hotel on the Strip. After all, it’s not as if you’ll be spending much time there, right?

Palms Fantasy Tower

Well, take a look at the suites at the Palms Fantasy Tower, and you just might change your mind. These suites aren’t just a place to pass out in; at the $25,000-a-night Hardwood Suite, for example, you and the boys can play a game on a real basketball court complete with a scoreboard, private locker rooms, and your own cheerleading team, courtesy of the hotel. Then, it’s on to the night’s entertainment. There are countless places you can go for a good time, but for the high roller, we recommend Spearmint Rhino. Though it’s a prominent gentlemen’s club chain, this Vegas club features a beautiful bevy of ladies and is visited by locals and celebrities alike. A few VIP lounges ensure privacy for you and your gang, and the opulent artwork and drapery lends a more sophisticated touch than most strip clubs do. Another newer but equally classy club is the Velvet Lion, which offers old school Vegas hospitality, and even more so if you’ve got the cash.

Encore's Society Cafe

When the evening’s over and you’ve seen things – both good and bad – that will leave you irreparably changed for life, it’s time to settle down with some hangover-helping food. Chances are it’ll be so late, it’s actually early next day, so head over to Encore’s Society Café for some soul-soothing but ritzy breakfast. Relish in the cozy, plush booths, and stuff your face with a Hung Over Fried Egg Sandwich, made with country ham, Gruyere cheese, roast breakfast potatoes, and a soft roll. Or, stop in to the equally trendy Simon at the Palms for a hearty helping of Steak and Eggs, made of a NY Strip, two eggs, and hash browns.

When all is said and done, a high-roller bachelor party will leave wallets empty but grooms satisfied. After all, there’s no place like Las Vegas for a send-off into matrimony. In any other city, spending untold amounts of money on a bachelor party might not be worth it – but Sin City will definitely make it worth your while.

Burger King Corp. just announced the launch of a beef scented body spray called what else “Flame.”

They are describing it as “the scent of seduction with a hint of flame-broiled meat.”

Burger King has even set up a website where their King character is laying by the fire and motioning for you to come to him. The fragrance is on sale for a limited time online for $3.99. Flame Body Spray.

One has to wonder if this latest stunt is actually selling more Whoppers or not.  Either way, I’d be interested to hear in the comments if you are a Whopper or Big Mac fan and why.
