Burger King Launches Beef-scented Body Spray

December 23, 2008 by stergeron · 8 Comments

First they gave us WhopperVirgins, and now this.

Burger King Corp. just announced the launch of a beef scented body spray called what else “Flame.”

They are describing it as “the scent of seduction with a hint of flame-broiled meat.”

Burger King has even set up a website where their King character is laying by the fire and motioning for you to come to him. The fragrance is on sale for a limited time online for $3.99. Flame Body Spray.

One has to wonder if this latest stunt is actually selling more Whoppers or not.  Either way, I’d be interested to hear in the comments if you are a Whopper or Big Mac fan and why.

Mixed Martial Arts: From Freak Show to Mainstream Sport?

Editor’s Note: This is a guest post from Mike Calimbas. If you would like to submit your own piece to Ploomy, Click Here.

When some people think of MMA (Mixed Martial Arts), the first thought that comes to mind conjures up images of violence and ‘human cockfighting’ ala John McCain 1995.

What those people fail to realize is that with the grassroots efforts of promoters, legislators, fans, and fighters alike, MMA has become one the fastest growing sports in the world today.

The signs are everywhere. Think boxing and follow the dollars. Gary Shaw, one of the preeminent boxing promoters of his time is now consulting EliteXC, the home of street fight legend Kimbo Slice. Donald Trump is now co-investing in MMA in with Tom Atencio’s Affliction. And Floyd Mayweather, the consensus baddest pound-for-pound boxer on the planet, has now retired from boxing. Rumor has it that he’s getting involved in a different combat sport now…

National Bourbon Heritage Month and the Man-cation

Editor’s Note: This is a guest post from Kevin Erskine. You can read more of his articles at the popular TheScotchBlog.

In college you and the guys would pile into the biggest/most highway worthy car; chip in for gas; load up on cheap beer and Doritos and head out on that most guy of guy events - the “road-trip”.

Now you are (somewhat of) an adult and have a little scratch to spend. You don’t want to jam in with 4 smelly dudes in the back seat while they spill PBR all over your crotch every time you hit a pothole.

That’s where the “Man-cation” comes in - taking the all guys road-trip get-away to the next level.

10 Music Sites Not Owned By Viacom (or big business for that matter)

10 Music Sites Not Owned by Viacom (or big business for that matter)

Just before the Independence Day weekend, media giant Viacom won a legal victory over YouTube that set off fireworks across the Internet. The July 1st ruling essentially marked Viacom’s acquisition of 12 terabytes of YouTube user data with the intention to infringe on the public’s privacy in pursuit of copyright litigation. After a privacy fiasco like this, you can’t help but wonder about popular media websites and their link to big business: after all, Viacom owns Last.fm and MP3.com while live event giant Ticketmaster is a part-owner of iLike. Here’s a list of 10 music sites not owned by big business. Read the rest of this article »

The 12 Types of Pickup Basketball Players: What Type Are You?

If you regularly play pickup basketball, then you can immediately recognize a certain kind of player. Go to any gym or playground across America, and you’ll probably notice most of these types of “ballers” [disclaimer: this term is used very loosely]. While you would want a few of these guys on your squad, most of them spend more time on the sidelines than the actual courts, as they’re typically on the losing squad and are quick to call next. Here are the 12 types of pickup basketball players. Read the rest of this article »

An End to Being “Green”

Driving a Prius isn’t eco-friendly, organic beauty products don’t reverse climate change, putting an organic tomato in your shopping cart provides you with a tomato, nothing more. Our individual environmental footprint is completely negligible on a global scale. You are helpless. Stop trying to save the environment. You can’t. Want to know why? Because we live on a big planet that has existed for billions of years that rotates around a burning star. And it doesn’t really care what you do. Yes, you are responsible for fucking it up. Join the club–it’s not that exclusive; as of date, we’re looking at about 6.8 billion members.
