ManPacks and Slix

When it comes to underwear, you may fall into either the “I don’t care as long as it’s clean” or the “I don’t mind paying a little more for performance” group.

Here are two options I came across recently that make sense no matter which camp you’re in. Oh and if you’re in the commando camp, then stop reading here.

Manpacks is a subscription based service which ships you brand new socks, underwear, and t-shirts every 3-months (think Netflix for skivvies). The site offers a variety of familiar brands (Hanes, Champion, American Apparel, Calvin Klein) and let’s you customize your orders the way you want them.

Launched in January of this year, Manpacks hopes to help you free up…”more time to build empires, climb mountains, slay dragons…to achieve the goals you aspire to.

Sure you can already order socks and underwear online from a bunch of existing retailers without a subscription, but putting this task on auto-pilot seems like a slam dunk. Packages start out at $14 and they offer free shipping on orders over $30.

Slix Closer Underwear

Just about every week I get emailed offers to review certain products. Lots of them I pass on, but if it’s interesting and I think you might like it, I accept the request.

I was skeptical when I got the email to try on some Slix underwear, but then I saw professional golfer John Daly was a spokesman for Slix and said heck why not. I’ve been following his roller coaster of a career for some time and he’s always been one of the most colorful, controversial, and unapologetic golfers on the PGA.

Is it a coincidence that I see Daly shoot a 66 during the opening round of the Open Championship the very next day? Is it because he was wearing his Slix? I don’t know. Whatever the case may be, he ended up shooting 76, 74, and 73 respectively the next few days to finish tied for 48th and out of contention. My guess is he must have ran out of Slix.

After getting my own pair of Slix Closer underwear ($24) in the mail, I decided to give them a go.

If you sit in front of the computer all day long (like me) and are prone to swamp a**, don’t fret because Slix underwear wicks away moisture quite well.

After a full day of wearing Slix, I came away impressed. I found them to be quite smooth, comfortable and again most importantly breathable. When my wife saw me wearing them, she gave me a slap on my bum…yowch!
