I tried Absinthe at this bar in LA called Bar Lubitsch and let's just say it doesn't have a pleasant taste. They lit it on fire and then you shoot it down the hatch, cannonball style. The only out of body experience I had was wishing I was in someone else's body so I didn't have to taste it.

I've tried Absinthe and the only thing I got was a nasty licorice taste and laughs at the expense of my friend who threw up out of a third story window. Definitely do NOT mix with coke, as it turns a nasty seaweed green and tastes horrible. I recommend diluting with water. Here is a good article about why Absinthe was illegal and what makes a good Absinthe:

I know a handful of folks that have tried absinthe, and about half really enjoyed it while the other half didn't (one said he couldn't control his body and was immobile for abt an hour). I'm definitely curious. I know Mr. Smith's serves it, but am curious what other venues in or around the city that does?
