The gym represents so many things to different people. For some, it is a safe haven after a taxing day at work. For others, it is a glorified happy hour to pick up dimes (chicks). But for most, the gym is an ally to fight that never ending war: “The Battle of the Bulge.”
Whether you’re a weekend warrior at Average Joe’s Gym or a meat-headed freak from Globo Gym, there are a few rules of gym etiquette to follow so you don’t end up being “that guy.”

I like sneakers. This topic evolved from “sneakers sneakerheads should own” to “classic kicks,” but I will simplify it by just naming fresh kicks from one shoe lover’s perspective. I mean we all have different tastes, so something that’s dope in my eyes very well may be an eyesore to you.
People often ask me if I’m fond of a particular pair that they’re eyeing, and I give my honest opinion, which might sway them from one direction to another. But the golden rule is: wear what you like, and emphasize the YOU part. Don’t rock a pair of kicks because other people sweat them, because of scarcity or because you’ve waited in line overnight for them. If you think a pair of kicks is fresh, then that’s all that really matters. Jay-Z says, “What you eat, don’t make me sh!t,” and likewise, what you wear shouldn’t make me sh!t either.
We’ve all been through it at some point. I’m talking about that rut, funk, spell or period in our lives where we feel like we’ve lost our swagger.
There are many reasons why this loss in confidence occurs (I’ll let you fill in the blanks), but when it happens to you, it sucks major. Here are 30 tips to get you out of the doldrums and help you get your swagger back.
Some say to get a tattoo, go sky diving, shave your head, change your name, throw out all your clothes, move back to your home town, have a one-night-stand and things of that nature, but I want to focus on less extreme measures and more of the simple things you can do.
If you think about it, when an NBA player is in a slump, they’re always told to get a few easy layups in or to get to the free throw line to get them going. These types of things should be no different for you. You don’t need to necessarily overhaul everything you do. Sometimes you just have to do the little things that make a big difference to get you going again. Continue reading »

One thing I’ve learned about working at a design and consulting firm is I’m never short of interesting projects to work on—whether we’re redesigning condiment packets, or designing a safer work flow for the operating room, or making electronic devices easier to interact with—I get the opportunity to work on a wide range of design projects.
So how can one consistently produce innovative and meaningful solutions to various and sometimes seemingly random design challenges? There’s definitely a process we use, and I’ve broken them down to 3 simple steps you can start using.

For years, Valentine’s Day has been associated with lovers exchanging cards, candy and flowers. Just behind Christmas, Valentine’s Day is the second largest card-sending holiday, and without a doubt the largest flower-giving holiday. Why not be more original this year and give your sweetie something less predictable and traditional?
Disclaimer: These gift ideas are really not your typical Valentine’s Day gifts; they err on the side of creativity and personalization. If you know your girl is more traditional, then by all means go for the flowers, candy, perfume, lingerie and other sexy items.

Lately everything we see on television or on billboards has something do with the environment. You’ve seen and heard about, the “lets keep it green campaign.” I’m sure we are all for it, keeping emissions down with your car, turning off a light in a room you’re not using, or powering down your computer. Let’s all keep the environment healthy and go green! Well, why not add one more variable to the cause, let’s go green with our alcohol!
If you haven’t heard, as of December 2007 absinthe is now legal in the United States. Absinthe is the infamous spirit for which the famous artist Van Gogh eagerly consumed one night, started to hallucinate, (I assume at this point had one really bad trip) and promptly cut off his ear. And it’s color bares beautiful shades of green.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…Okay before you break out your light saber and use the force on me, check out this really awesome spoof on Star Wars. It was created by the Organic Trade Association (OTA) and Free Range Studios a while back, but if you haven’t seen it, it’s definitely worth a look.
The five-minute movie features Cuke Skywalker, Princess Lettuce, Chewbroccoli and other organic rebels—played by real vegetables dressed as Star Wars characters—battling it out with Darth Tader, the evil lord of the Dark Side of the Farm. [via StoreWars.org]
Okay, now you can break out the light saber, just make sure it’s the green colored one.
